Carlsbad Police and Wal-Mart Bicycle-Scooter Rodeo

The sun was shining the kids were on the bikes laughing. The adults were in the shade talking.  Sounds like the perfect Saturday afternoon.
Now add in police, paperwork, and instructions. It changes the image to something no one wants to think about.
Fortunately for the people of Carlsbad it was an instructional day for the children so that nightmare image does not happen.
Thanks to Wal-Mart and the Carlsbad police the children were able to attends the bicycle-scooter rodeo. Now these children are educated in how to safety ride their bikes on the city streets.

Merchant Safety and Security Training by the Carlsbad Police Dept.

All around us are signs that the holidays are close. The air is a little crisper, the stores are changing all the displays, the city is decorating the streets, and the CPD is giving seminars on holiday safety and security to the local merchants.
Corporal Baca and Officer Tomko talked with merchants about Code enforcement, the Wise Eyes program and Security during the holidays and how to make sure that you, your employees, your home and family were safe during this time.
The CPD is making great strides to assist in the education of all of Carlsbad's citizens so make sure that you take the opportunities being given and lets all make Carlsbad a better place to live.

Carlsbad Police Department opens renovated facility to public

Those who have dedicated themselves to protect us have taken it one step farther, thanks to Chief Tom Whitten, Capt. Kelly Lowe and the hard working officers and staff.

"Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway, Chief Tom Whitten, Capt. Kelly Lowe, State Sen. Vernon Asbill, State Rep. John Heaton, City Council Member Judi Waters, a representative of U.S. Sen. Tom Udall and Wanda Welch of Keep Carlsbad Beautiful spoke at the event, and Santhia Collins sang "The Star Spangled Banner." (quoted from Matlin Smith Current-Argus Staff Writer. Current-Argus Story) along with the public officially opened the new section of the department as well as the new Liberty Park.

The police department is taking a new approach to law enforcement, not just reactive but interactively working with the public. The new Community Access and restructuring of the police department is designed to fulfill that goal.
